Mary Rood was born in July 1883 (according to 1900 census) and grew up in Niagara Falls, New York. After her marriage, she (we are told) moved to Montreal, Canada where her husband was in Bridge Construction and possibly became a contractor, himself. Mary Rood "Mame" was the daughter of Eli Rainforth Rood and his wife, Catherine "Kate" Mahoney Rood.
