In terms of the work on Chautauqua County, it is the most thorough of any "volunteer" effort for "free" material I've ever seen. I like the search engine particularly, because it saves "a lot" of time, a lot alot of time. It takes enough time as it is to wade through material, but for those of us trying to find information about ancestors from about 1800 (or maybe earlier) to maybe 1870, or in some cases, later, this type of material is invaluable. We lived in the Buffalo area for about 18 years, but though working as we could - in those days none of this was online at all - we still were not even aware of the resources that were out there. We had never even heard of the NYCGS. We just went to town and county historians, some historical societies, court houses, etc. So, I am glad. Still more information needed though, but people are filling in the cracks. Betsy Phillips Researching: Wyoming, Genessee, Erie, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, Allegany (and maybe other counties further east - all up state pretty much - as well as CT, NH, and MA) for PHILLIPS, CHURCHILL, BUMP, BUMPUS, WHEELER, PIERSON, etc. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!?
