Nearly 1,600 people toured the plant during an open house at Prestolite's Alternator Products Division in Arcade. Deaths: Ralph OSGOOD, 83, of Delevan; Emma BLECHA BEOHMER, 94, of Machias; Violet COHOON SPRINGER, 87, of Delevan; William SLIPPY, 68, of Machias; Carl SYLVESTRI, 49, of Delevan; Leslie BRAUEN, 56, formerly of Arcade. 25 Years Ago - October 12, 1978 Dedication ceremonies were held for the Freedom park and playground in Sandusky. The park included memorials to Harry NOURSE and Chris DENISON. Columbus Day, October 9, was a busy day along West Main Street in Arcade. After several delays, the house at 328 West Main (site of the present Uni-Mart) moved part way to its present location on County Line Road. The first half of the trip took several hours, while the second half took several weeks. The Delevan Travelers Club was 75 years old. Deaths: Clayton HAUN, 63, of Eagle; Ralph AUSTIN, 89, of Delevan; Clyde ROBERTS, 60, of Bliss; Kenneth BURGESS, 46, of Centerville; Edwin ADAMS, 94, of Chaffee. 35 Years Ago - October 10, 1968 Ruth COOK of the Arcade Agency was installed as president of the Genesee Region Women's Insurance Association. Merton and Ella Mae MILKS WILLIAMS of Machias observed their golden anniversary. Otis MAYNARD was elected master of the Grange at Java Village. Mildred HITTLE was installed as noble grand of the Rebekah lodge at Chaffee. 50 Years Ago - October 8, 1953 Dedication ceremonies were set for October 25 for the new Wyoming County Community Hospital in Warsaw. Rosier Hardware in Arcade opened its new 1,400 square-foot addition. The Holland Men's Club changed its name to the Holland Civic Club. Willard GEER was president. Joyce DOMES was elected president of the American Legion auxiliary in Sardinia. Brasky's Barber Shop opened for business in the Wilson Building.
