The Reverend Michael MERRILL was named by the Yorkshire Free Methodist Church as its associate pastor for youth and discipleship. Harry MERVILLE of Bliss died. 35 Years Ago - October 3, 1968 The Holland Fire Department commemorated its 75th anniversary. Eleanor ROBLEE of Farmersville Station opened a Sears catalog store in Arcade. Floyd and Jennie OWENS MARSH of Arcade celebrated their golden anniversary. The Arcade Senior Citizens organized and elected Kenneth STORMS temporary president. Mrs. Cecil McELHENY was elected noble grand of the Rebekah lodge in Delevan. Robert COOPER resigned as administrator of the Cattaraugus County Infirmary in Machias. Deaths:Betty SCHROEDER JOSLIN, 49, of Machias, Jennie GRAY KENYON, 87, of Chaffee; Margaret SPRAGUE, 72, of Farmersville; Floyd DICKEY, 67, of Machias; Milo DAVIS of Arcade. 50 Years Ago - October 1, 1953 W. G. COHOON of Yorkshire donated a 50-foot strip of land between Old Olean Road and Route 16 to Cattaraugus County for a new street, to be named in honor of Supervisor Earl WESTOVER. Mrs. Burt FILER was chairman of the Red Feather Community Chest drive in Holland.
