    3. Hi, Here's this week's Remember When.... Isn't it sad that in 1968 it was the social custom to report these two women's names by their Mrs. title and their husband's name. Although they did something worthy of getting in the paper they are nameless. I'm glad that has changed. Deaths: William ERNEWEIN, 82, of Delevan; Teresa SWEENEY KINGSLAND, 66, of Arcade; Larry ROBLEE, 52, formerly of Sandusky; Andrew J. NICHOLS, 76, formerly of Delevan. 25 Years Ago - March 29, 1978 Keith STEARNS, a 1975 graduate of Pioneer, won the 167-pound title in the NCAA wrestling championships. STEARNS, who wrestled for the University of Oklahoma, became the first Western New York wrestler to win an NCAA title. Kenneth BEACH and Robert HOWELL were re-elected trustees in the Village of Delevan, and Mark LILLENSTEIN was elected village justice. Maurice THOMAS of Arcade was promoted by First Trust Union Bank to vice president. Seymour (Bud) ROSIER retired after 32 years with the Rosier Hardware in Arcade. Mike LEWIS of Holland and Greg ROGERS of Pioneer were named to the All-ECIC basketball all-star team. ROGERS was also picked by the Buffalo Evening News for its All-Western New York second team. Deaths: Florence BAKIERZYNSKI, formerly of Bliss; Nancy WINNIE, 30, an accident victim; Grace TURNER COVERT, 58, of Centerville. 35 Years Ago - March 28, 1968 The faculty of Holland Central presented the play "Mother is a Freshman" for the benefit of the scholarship fund. Mrs. Thomas FRONCHOWIAK and Warren HARDY were the directors. Mrs. Eugene JACKSON resigned after 14 years as Holland correspondent for the paper. Deaths: Ella WILBER YULE, 82, of Chaffee; Richard SIMMONS of Holland. 50 Years Ago - March 26, 1953 The Arcade Community Chorus, directed by Lee COUCH and accompanied by Ethel GIBBON and Jeanne DOSTER, presented an Easter cantata. The combined choirs of the Java Village and Curriers Congregational churches presented a cantata. The Rev. George VAN DERVEN was the director, and Mary MILLER was the accompanist. Arcade's town basketball team, led by the scoring of Harold CRABB and Don WHITING, defeated Boston for the Tri-County Basketball League championship. Robert LESTER was elected commander of the Arcade VFW post.     3. Hello. I second this notion. I just spent 5 years tracing my maternal grandmother's lineage starting with her obituary in 1956. That article was all about her husband and nothing about HER. That inspired me to do a thorough search of her life and I didn't find out too much about her. Sad.
