Voters in the Pioneer district re-elected Raymond HABERER and David SHIELDS to the school board. The farm of Daniel & Annette BOBERG on Brown Schoolhouse Road in Freedom was named a Dairy of Distinction. Deaths: Frank CARPENTER, 91, of Arcade; Paul Newhand, 78, of Arcade; Kazmiera (Katherine) DZIEDZIC TROUTMAN, 83, formerly of Arcade; Jeffrey AUSTIN, 41, formerly of Arcade. 25 Years Ago - June 21, 1978 Jerome MILKS and Chris PROCTOR provided the paper with the first in a series of articles from their "Nova Scotia or Bust" bicycle trip. The Rev. Charles TYLER was named pastor of the United Methodist churches in Delevan and Yorkshire. Fire damaged the Helen JONES house in Delevan. Deaths: Kenneth DAWLEY of Arcade; Ruth BERG HATCH of Sandusky; Clyde BRINDENBAKER, 90, formerly of Machias; Susie WULFER DECKER, 92. 35 Years Ago - June 20, 1968 School administrators from Erie County and state education officials from Albany held a testimonial dinner in honor of Harold BRUMSTED, who was retiring as Holland's district principal on August 31. He had been a school administrator for 42 years. A pin oak tree was planted in memory of Dr. George G. DAVIS at O'Dell Medical Center in Arcade. Lee BULL of Machias was elected president of the Delevan-Machias Alumni Association. Mr. & Mrs. Sylvester BECKER of North Java observed their golden anniversary. New teachers hired at Pioneer for 1868-69 included Ronald MILLER in art, Ellison NYE in English, and James SCHWEINBURG in science. Deaths: James KOCH, 16, of Bliss; Howard RAMSEY, 69, formerly of Eagle. 50 Years Ago - June 18, 1953 Carlyle CURTIS was elected president of the Arcade Community Chest. Gordon CANER was elected president of the Arcade Lions Club.
