Diane HOWLETT of Arcade was the valedictorian and Anthony GEORGE of Bliss was salutatorian at Arcade. Mrs. Donald GALBRAITH was elected president of the PTA at Arcade. Deaths: Walter HEINTZ, 67, of Yorkshire; Everett NOURSE, 91, of Delevan; Mary COOK DEVEAU, 61, of Holland; Minty KEMP WILSON, 49, of Machias. 50 Years Ago - April 29, 1954 George C. CRAWFORD, a principal in Tioga County, was named supervising principal of Delevan-Machias Central School. Ross BROWN, former federal district Customs collector and a former longtime Holland supervisor, died. William KRITCH was elected commander of the American Legion post in Holland. Arlene BRAY was elected president of the Arcade PTA. The Bob EASLEY Orchestra played at the grand opening of Mulligan's Grand View Hotel at Lime Lake.
