The following information comes from the PERSONS Pioneer Cemetery located at Persons Corners, Township of Sheldon, Wyoming County, New York. I visited this cemetery on 11/11/2002. I received the following information from the Town Clerk to whom I am very grateful for sending this my way. Source: unknown: Page 94; April 1954: "This abandoned graveyard, west of North Sheldon, on present Route 20A, was probably the first opened in the township, but apparently not used after the Civil War period. Located on the North side of the highway at the brow of a hill, the grounds are several feet above the present road level and little care has been given them in recent years. The stones are scattered and broken, while brushes have overgrown much of the site. The first settlement was made in this area in 1804."
