Francis, I can't be of much help to you, but I hope you can help me a bit. I don't have a copy, but I have found Birney in 1880 Perry census with Amelia. I don't have anything more than they may have married 1878 and had 3 children. Amelia was Amelia Evaline Wiggins, dau. of Annin and Sarah (Tennent) Wiggins who moved to Warsaw about 1840. I would like their marriage date and the names of their children. I'm not sure the 3 children are theirs or were they part his, part their, or all his???? From: "francis eustis" To: [email protected] Subject: [NYWYOMIN] Lapham Family I am looking for information about Birney W. Lapham. He was born in 1844 and died in 1923. He lived in the town of Perry and is buried in the LeGrange Cemetery with his first wife, Josephine Mills. Their son, Frank Lapham, is my grandfather. I have found Birney (Barney) listed with Amelia, possibly a second wife, in the 1900 census living in Perry. I also found Birney Lapham and his wife, Josephine, in the 1870 census. He was listed as a farmer in Perry. I would like further information about Birney including the names of his parents. Sorry to use the list for this ....but there isn't any other way to send this! As list admin, I get all bounced mail. Lately there has been quite a bit of it....both list bounces and at the address I use for genealogy[ [email protected] ]. If you have emailed me at the above address or [email protected] and haven't gotten an answer...it is because my reply to you bounced back bounced back to me. There are many reasons for bounces...here are some: 1. You changed your address but didn't unsub the old address and resub the new.[ for list] 2. Your ISP is down for any number of reasons 3. Your 'reply to:' address is incorrect. [usually a typo] 4. Your spam filters are set to block ALL mail or all mail from a certain domain[ ie: lycos, aol, msn, etc.] 5. Your mail box is full. Sooo.....time to check all your mail settings, empty your trash, and check all your filters....and while you are at it check all the places on the internet [especially message boards] that you have OLD addresses lingering...post a new message with your correct email address. You can't get mail using a dead address!!! Buffalo Courier Buffalo, Erie County, New York State November 23-1919 Weddings of Western New York. Bleak November seems to be considered a propitious month for weddings in western New York towns, and a large number have been solemnized the past week. * Warsaw. The marriage of Miss Dorothy BAILEY, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George BAILEY of Warsaw, to Clayton MASCHO, was solemnized Monday evening at the home of the bride, the Rev. O.C. BAKER of the Methodist church officiating. Only immediate friends and relatives were present. Among those attending from out of town were Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence WALLACE of Perry. Mr. and Mrs. MASCHO will be at home after a short trip to Olean at the home of the bride's parents. * A quiet wedding took place Wednesday morning at the home of Mr. and Mrs.. David WALKER in Murray street when their daughter, Helen K., was married to Ernest W. JERNZEN of Hornell. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. O.C. BAKER. The bride, who was unattended, wore a gown of navy crepe meteor and carried a bouquet of yellow chrysanthemums. Following the ceremony a wedding dinner was served, covers being laid for twelve at the bride's table, which was centered with yellow chrysanthemums. Comparing the two, the 1933 list contains a number of typos. Perhaps the original source was handwritten or otherwise hard to read. Typos aside, all the 1933 entries can be found in the new list... which suggests that none of the 1933 gravestones have been removed or become unreadable since then. The earliest gravestones date to the early 1890's. The site of the 1840's Sheldon mission (log cabin) church and cemetery is believed to be nearby, according to a monument next to the Bartz Rd. cemetery. However, I am not aware of any traces of the pioneer cemetery that can be found today. The 1933 list does not mention any either, nor does the St. Cecilia's FHL microfilm. I write: Thank you for the information identifying the 1933 list as that of St Cecelia's South. I transcribe exact what was in the old record. Nothing is altered. Gertrude A. Berber was a traveling and prolific genealogy compiler in New York. She had many books of extractions. All her books were typewritten. Not all of her books are at the FHL and not all her books that are at the FHL are microfilmed. This particular book was found at the New York Public Library at in Astor-Ford Collection. W.
