General Optical was bought by Shuron Optical of Geneva, NY. Shuron, in turn, was purchased by a subsidiary of the Philadelphia and Reading Co. in March 1958. By September 1958, it is sold again and appears as a a subsidiary of Textron, Inc. The company was purchased by private investors in 1985 and became Shuron Inc.
