Connecticut Ancestry Society, Inc. and DANBURY LIBRARY present a FREE Genealogy Lecture “Finding Records of your Civil War Ancestors” with Harlan Jessup on Saturday, March 3, 2012 from 10:00AM to 12:00PM at the Danbury Library 170 Main Street, Danbury, CT The presentation will focus on locating and using service records, pension, census and burial records, and published unit and personal histories. The speaker, Harlan Jessup, will illustrate the talk with examples from two of his great, great uncles, one who fought for the Union and one for the Confederacy. The speaker, Harlan Jessup of Newtown, is a professional genealogist with a special interest in Connecticut and nearby areas of Massachusetts and New York. He edits the Society's journal Connecticut Ancestry, and he maintains the genealogy and local history collection at Newtown's C. H. Booth Library. He is a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists and of the Connecticut Professional Genealogists Council. Registration begins at 10:00 AM with the lecture kicking off at 10:30 AM.
