    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: philiplhayes Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.newyork.counties.westchester/7258.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: WOW... I think I finally found something. http://www.archives.nysed.gov/a/research/fa/A0200.shtml It's no wonder I couldn't find any online records about this. it looks like two thirds of the original records referenced may have burned up in 1911. ============== "New York in the Revolution as Colony and State" (Comptroller's Office, Albany, 1904) provides name indexes, volume lists, regimental lists, and some samples of records from the original, complete record series. Users are cautioned that roughly two-thirds of the records referenced in this resource were destroyed in the State Capitol fire of 1911. ============== The DAR Application I have is from 1903. So the applicant was probably able to view the originals of them before the fire. I have a research request in at the DAR to see what they have. it looks like there may be indexes on Microfim that survived, but not much else. Grrrrrr. Does anybody have any experience with these records? For those of you struggling to find proof of Patriotism, this could explain much of your trouble.
