    3. Many of the details in these original documents were authenticated with SAR and DAR applications long ago. It's a matter of finding an ancestor whose bloodline has already been proven and then simply proving your bloodline to them. I'd be mildly surprised if there are any RW Patriots who are not in the rolls already. Any of the records referred to in applications that are now destroyed should not be necessary to produce, as they would already have been vetted by the society. It should be a valid source to use as proof. Even if 2/3 of the originals are gone. The remains of the collection are still viewable in Albany. Still, the pedantic in me, would love to get my hands on the original records. Someday, I'll get around to sending in my application. I have all the proof I need, just never makes it to the top of my todo list. Is there also a society for Torie descendants? I may have one or two of them in my direct line, as well. Definitely have uncles in that category. Brother against brother, literally. It must have been a very sad and trying time. I can't imagine the heartache of fighting against my brothers. Or my father, or children. 3. LOL... Did you see "Who Do You Think you Are?" last week? Rob Lowe found himself in that exact position. Thanks for feedback. BTW... Jean Ann from this list found some Revolutionary War Rolls on Fold3 that indicate a Hermon Yerks served in and around West Point in 1779. He could be one of the relatives I am looking for, but I can find NO other mention of him anywhere regarding the Revolution. No pension records... nothing. There is a Harmon Yerks who served in PA, but I am pretty sure it is a different person. He shows up in NO DAR applications. Of course, if it is from my wife's line, it would make sense. Some of the children of Hermon were VERY poor. That lasted for at least two generations. They probably had little interest in that organization when they has little money. It might also make sense because the Hermon Yerks in my wife's tree would be between the ages of 12 and 16 during the time period of the Muster Rolls. Maybe he ran up to West Point as a kid to try to join but was never recognized for pension purposes.
