    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Author: vansicklen1 Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.newyork.counties.westchester/7256.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: Here are two death notices for James' wife Margaret: Brooklyn Daily Eagle Wednesday, March 25, 1931; page 17 DEATHS HYLAND - On March 22, 1931. Margaret Hyland, widow of James Hyland and devoted mother of John Hyland. Funeral from her residence, 161 E. 35th St., Flatbush, on Thursday, March 26, at 9:30 a.m.; thence to St. Catherine of Genoa R. C. Church. Interment Holy Cross Cemetery. Brooklyn Standard Union 24 March 1931 Margaret HYLAND, a life resident of Brooklyn died Sunday at her home, 161 East Thirty-fifth street, Flatbush. She was a member of St. Catherine of Genoa R. c. Church where a solemn mass of requiem will be celebrated Thursday by the Rt. Rev. Monsignor John B. GORMAN, at 10 A. M. She was the widow of James HYLAND and three grandchildren. Interment will be at holy Cross Cemetery under the direction of William DUNIGAN & Son, Rogers avenue and Montgomery street. ------------------------ Here is the same Margaret in the NY City death index: Hyland Margaret, 72 y, d. Mar 22 1931, cert # 7695, Kings County, Brooklyn AND these look like they may possibly be her husband and son in the same death index: Hyland James, 32 y, d. Jan 15 1890, cert # 2979, Flatbush, Kings County, Brooklyn Hyland John, 65 y, d. Jun 13 1944, cert # 12552, Kings County, Brooklyn My note: Given that you already know that Margaret was listed as a widow in the 1900 US census for Brooklyn, the above James Hyland in the death index is a good candidate for her husband and given that you already know that their son John V. Hyland was noted as deceased in the "Old Man's Draft Registration" WWII list, the above John Hyland is a good candidate for Margaret's son. Copies of the death certificates and/or the Holy Cross Cemetery interment record may confirm the above information. By the way... you should also note that the address of 161 E. 35th St, Flatbush in Margaret's death notice is the same address given for John V. Hyland in the WWII Draft Registration.
