Still looking (after 20 years of work) for wives of several Knowlton men in Bedford,Westchester county, in the 18th century. I collected all the census records long ago off microfilm. I have checked all the Bedford records that remain after the town was burned during the Revolution. Basically, what I need is for people to keep alert in their 18th (not 19th) century genealogies for women who married Knowltons (also spelled Nolton and variations). I do not need ancestry searches, which I have done. There is Ephraim (ca 1676-ca 1735) who married Katherine Griffin in Westchester town before they moved up to Bedford. He may have a second wife. There is his son, Robert (ca 1710-1897) whose wife (wives?) is unknown. There is a John, perhaps a brother, wife unknown. There is a Thomas (1720-ca. 1800) who may be Robert's brother or John's son, first wife unknown; second wife Ann Clugston. Then there is Robert's son Ephraim (ca 1745-1784) whose wife when he died was named Charity (surname unknown), but he also may have had a first wife who died between 1769 and 1775. My data is on rootsweb's worldconnect, which I highly recommend. Elizabeth in sunny high 60s Atlanta with the first tulip opening today
