    2. I have been sent a section of this newspaper by Bruce Sherwood who wanted it shared with this list, I will type up each articule as time permits and sent it to this list. Here is the first one: The Scarsdale Inquirer - 1 Friday, October 11, 1946 Trainman Saves Dog on Tracks Another recent case of the New York Central Railroad versus the canine population of Scarsdale came to light last week with all credit for the successful outcome of the engagement going to the railroad motorman. As described by a Scarsdale resident who was on the station platform for the 7:10 train to New York, “a small black dog resembling a cocker spaniel started to cross from the east platform to the west” just as the train arrived at the station. :Frantic gesticulations and yelling on the part of passengers on the platform failed to deter the animal, and he wiggled under the third rail at a point just north of the Popham Rd. bridge across the tracks.” The motorman “with a smoothness that was impressive,” says Robert S. HACKETT of 13 Fox Meadow Rd., “decelerated his train skillfully so it reached a stop six or eight feet before reaching the dog. The train was a full car-length north of its usual stopping place. “Apparently sensing the terror and confusion in the dog’s mind, the motorman alighted from his booth while the passengers were embarking, fetched the dog carefully from his cowering position in the vicinity of the third rail and set him down on the west side of the hedge along the platform.” In his letter to the superintendent of the Harlem Division, of which parts are quoted above, MR. HACKETT, expressed congratulations to the New York Central “for its possession of such a caliber of personnel.” Thanks, Carol L. Heap "You live as long as you are remembered"
