Have you checked with the Field Library in Peekskill or the city Museum there, http://www.peekskill.org/ Just navigate to the Departments and pick the Library, they have volunteers who will do lookups and the Librarians are very pleasant and helpful, whenever we go to NY to visit family I head to the Library for as much info as I can soak up in the time I have. I wish I could spend a month reading the microfilms and books. They are so full of information of my Father's heritage. Or any other census? My grandfather was placed there by the NY City Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children.on January 29, 1880 when he was 2 years old. A letter from the NYSPCC says that they spent 25 hours searching for his records. This was done because St. Joseph's supplied me with written documentation regarding his placement. Unfortunately they were unable to find any proof that they were involved. They need the case number to do more. There are several reasons that could have caused this mystery. Lost files, incorrect name, wrong SPCC name, wrong birth date, etc. The NYSPCC wrote that they would have only delivered the child William Anthony Donnell (Dannell) or O', Mc' upon a Court Committal but no number or copy could be located at either place. But I also have been unable to find the Home listed on the 1880 census. The home sent him to live with a Mr. Ward in Yorktown, NY from Sept. 1895 to 1897 and to Mrs. Gannon in Croton, NY from 1897 to 1900. .I have both these areas and name but unable to prove that either existed. Thanks for any suggestions you many have.
