Pat, I was interested in your letter about your grandfather so put his name into Ancestry and got a WW1 registration card that's interesting. You may already have this but if you don't, it gives his birth date as January 29 1880. Address is Queens and occupation Engineer at the "Foundation Co". Also his signature. Brown eyes and brown hair. Form was filled out Sept 9, 1918. Lists age as 38 which makes the 1880 birth year okay. The address in Queens looks like E. 56th St. Hope this may be of help. (You letter got my attention because my grandfather was born in NY in 1878 and was put into the NY Foundling Home.)
