Maureen, The researchers that pull files at NARA are very good and usually quite thorough. However, they are human beings and the clerk looking for you might have been having a bad day. I have heard of people receiving files and finding out later there is quite a lot more. You might just want to send the whole request back in again and see what happens. If you can send me what you do know about him, such as name, any dates, service unit if known, etc., I will see if I can find anything further in any of the databases that I subscribe to.
