Hi Shannon, Perhaps his occupation would provide some clues. If he was a sailor, he may died at sea. Or, maybe he died in a place or circumstance where his remains were never recovered, e.g. drowned, kidnapped, etc. Or, perhaps his family either could not afford to have the stone revised, or they didn't want to, or there was no family left to order the revision. The best thing to do is contact the cemetery for a list of interments and go from there.
