At _http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~rbillard/kingston_marriages.htm_ (http://homepages.rootsweb.com/~rbillard/kingston_marriages.htm) I found: "1748 15 Apr; William Anderson, jm, born Philadelphia liv Neskotak; Catharina Ostrander, jd, born Dutchess Co. liv Hurley." and, "1787 18 Feb; Abraham Cool, jm, of Hurley; Ariantje Crispel, jd, born Neskotak liv Hurley." At _http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/read/VERMONT/2002-09/1032404204_ (http://archiver.rootsweb.com/th/read/VERMONT/2002-09/1032404204) I found: "Page 595. Year of 1748 15 April 1093 WILLIAM ANDERSON, j. m., born in Philadelphia, and resid. in Neskotak,3 and CATHARINA OSTRANDER, j. d., born in Dutches [Dutchess] Co., and resid. in Horli [Hurley]. Banns registered, 27 March." Both items reference Duchess County, NY (the third county north of New York City), and Hurley, NY, which is in Ulster County near Kingston, NY near the intersection of I-87 and US-209. I could not locate a Neskotak, NY, but I did find a Nescopeck, Pennsylvania that fits in with the items above ("born in Philadelphia"). Nescopeck, PA is in Luzerne County just east of where I-80 crosses the Susquehannah River, roughly 175 miles from Hurley, NY. THANK YOU! to the listers who answered my question so quickly-- especially those noting the Anderson entry from the Hoes book! My person IS William Anderson. I'm having a lot of trouble finding Anderson information in early Westchester. To think they originated in PA is quite an adjustment! Actually I am after his sister, Dorothy Anderson. She spelled her name Doroty and after she married Samuel Tredwell spelled that, Treddle. Both families are involved in some land transactions after the RW, but I can't find her birth date or location. And the surname is not seen often on this list--so it must not have had many descendants who remained or lived..... Ring my bell, it your run across anything that would indicate Dorothy's parentage. It is entirely possible that William is her father, but I haven't found that yet. There is a Jeremiah, too, but again seen rarely.
