Out here in Burlingame, last month school officials were delighted to discover $100,000. "extra" in the school budget to be able to continue "Immersion" classes in Spanish for KINDERGARTN AND 1ST GRADES! Two pages later there was an article about needing a Bond issue for needed items in the 2007-2008 year. Figure THAT one out! "Both sides of mouth talking" There were a lot of Italian immigrants whose kids came to my school. They learned rapidly, we gave them help and they could practice by translating at home to mama and papa. Worked really well and pretty fast, too!.
