    3. The Lutheran Pastor who married me over 40 years ago always said the best thing his German immigrant parents ever did for him was to continue to speak German at home, so that he learned proper English in school, as well as proper English at home. His D.D. in theology was grreatly simplified by being fluent in both languagesh Barbara L. de Mare, Esq. Even later on when the German girl I mentioned and her brother came over here they learned to speak English just fine. He was 6 yrs old and in a short time spoke English with NO accent. She was 15 and spoke with a very slight accent for a couple of years. Ay home they had to speak German, or Russian, or Polish all of which they had learned to speak fluently in Europe because their mother never learned a word of English and their father was not far behind.
