Thank you for your email Maureen. I have the baptism and marriage record for Hendrick, as follows: Baptismal and Marriage Register of the Old Dutch Church of Kingston, Ulster County, New York 1660-1809; Transcribed and Edited by Roswell Randall Hoes (published in New York 1891; reprinted by Genealogical Publishing, Baltimore, MD 1980 & 1997) [Hoes B#876] 24 November 1695: Hendrick; Parents: Abraa Hendrickse, Annetje Kennef; Sponsors: Dirrick Jansse Schepmoes, Marytje Schepmoes. Hendrick Van AMBURGH married Hannah SMIth at Tarrytown: 25 April 1732: Hendreck Namburgh, b. in Dutjes Conti, l. on the Mennaer of Cortllandt, and Hanna Smet, j. d., b. and l. in Phillips Burgh. Children I have recorded are: 1. Possibly Abraham 2. Marya. page 68 of the Fishkill Church records shows this: 28 April 1745 Marya was baptised. Parents are listed as Hendrick Van Amburgh & Sara Van Amburgh, with the witness shown as Hanne Smit.( I believe the wife & witness should be reversed!) I would appreciate any details you have on son Abraham please, as I have no actual documentation for him. I have also found (what I suspect) are errors in the Van AMBURGH pages of "Families of the Colonial Manor of Philipsburg", page 733, "van Amburgh", by Grenville Mackenzie, which I will post soon too. You may be interested in this info, or additional (baptism for example) info for the CANNIFF / Van AMBURGH family. Just let us know. My father-in-law (and son) was (and is) Matthew SMITH - but from County Durham, England Cheers Marg Smith Subject: Re: [NYWESTCH] CANNIFF KENNIFF AKENIF > Marg, > > Hendrick Van Amburgh married my 5th great aunt, Hannah Smith, d o Caleb > Smith and Unknown. > > Hannah and Hendrick had a son they named Abraham after his grandfather. > Hannah died young and Hendrick remarried a Dutch woman. Thanks, Marge. I do have Hannah Smith's and Hendrick Van Amburgh's marriage record. I was a newbie when I acquired that info and was astounded re the mangled spellings. After more than a decade of research nothing about genealogy astounds me anymore.LOL. As I understand it, Abraham was Hannah's only child (and then she died) so I am puzzled now about the Fishkill record. I may have a hard copy of the info I was sent several years ago by a couple of Listers out West. It is on my desktop computer too but I can't access that right now...long story. At the time I had posted a question re Matthew Smith and they answered with info on Hendrick and his second wife. Anything you can contribute to clear up my confusion will be deeply appreciated. BTW I know my Smiths came from somewhere in England as did your father in law Matthew but where and when is a brickwall.
