Benita, This would be wonderful! I hope to get back to NY again in the next few years but would love to know if these buildings are still there, you never know when something here today is gone tomorrow. If you have a digital camera a photo or two or be great, I would be happy to pay for your gas. There is no urgency but I didn't want to wait until it was too late. I just found some of these addresses on death certificates and census, I never knew my great-grandparents & my Grandfather Hirsch was a police officer shot and killed in the line of duty in 1932 so I never knew him either. I am trying to fill in the gaps. I am guessing that the stores had apartments over them, they may not have. Thanks for your kindness. You are a gene-angel. I work near the Bronx addresses you list - I could drive by one day and take a look at the buildings. I did that a few years back when my elderly aunt gave me the address where she was born in the Bronx - she described the building and it is still standing! ( but the haunted house around the corner was no longer standing) The Mount Vernon addresses are also not very far - so let me know how urgently you need this info and I will try and search for you.
