    3. Bill -- you didn't give the name of the person who wrote the will and you didn't give the date of writing the will and of its probate. This information might help others to help you identify these folks. I believe an indenture is a deed, so it would most probably be filed with county land records, probably at the county courthouse. Here's another will that might possibly help -- In his will, dated 15 Feb 1792, probated 13 May 1805, John Kniffin, Senior, of Rye, devised to wife ----- the use of one third of lands [etc,] to revert to sons Elisha, John, Isaac, William, Hackaliah, and Nathan; mentioned son Caleb; all lands to be divided among the first mentioned six sons when Nathan, youngest son, arrived at age of 21; "When my daughters get married, I order the family if they are able to assist them to some things." Executors, son Elisha and friend Gilbert Brown of Rye. Wit., John Theale, Disbury Park, Thomas Mc Collum. 3. Hi Pat, Will was written by John Staples, Amy's husband in 1803. I was just trying to get a feel for what the Indenture might relate to. I know Indenture is used in land sales but this seemed like it might be something else, as no land was mentioned. Nothing shows up (so far) in the Westchester Archives. It would seem strange that they were married on the same day but recorded the Indenture in another County. The Kniffin is another question. He certainly could be a relative Bill ----- Original Message ----- From: "Pat Wardell" <the.wardells@gte.net> To: <nywestch@rootsweb.com> Sent: Thursday, August 23, 2007 1:13 PM Subject: Re: [NYWESTCH] Indenture > Bill -- you didn't give the name of the person who wrote the will and > you didn't give the date of writing the will and of its probate.
