    3. Brian, That's my family, a well known Huguenot name. What do you need to know ? Ambroise Sicard was born in Mornac, near La Rochelle, France, about 1631 and had salt flats and vine yards. He fled from there to London about 1680 with his five surviving children, Ambroise 1666-1673, Daniel 1672-1742, Jacques 1675-1773, Marie 1677, Silvie 1678. His wife has never been identified and even a trip to France and London has not helped me give her a name or what happened to her. The Huguenot Church in Threadneedle Street sent Ambroise and those 5 children on to New York., where they helped found the city of New Rochelle, NY. In 1695 letters of denization were granted to he and his 3 sons., making them all English subjects. In his 1701 will he gave each of his sons a house and land in the new Rochelle area. In Sept 1698, Ambroise and his son Daniel, Daniel's, wife Catherine and 6 month old Daniel were listed in the 1st census taken in New Rochelle, and the other sons and their families are also listed. In 1712 he was still alive in the next census and named James Sycar, 75, living with Daniel Sycar Sr, and his family. I don't know what line you belong to but mine is Daniel and his son Daniel Secord, born in New Rochelle in March 1698 and listed in that 1st census. His son Jacques/James born 1732 is my 5th ggf. The name Sicard was changed into about 8 different names by the 3rd and 4th generations: Secord, Secor, Secort, Sicar, Sicart, Secoy, etc The Loyalist line who went to Canada during the American revolution came from the Secords, the sons of that 2nd Daniel. If you need more info, just ask, Sicard/Secord descendant > Date: Wed, 23 Sep 2015 10:05:11 -0500 > To: nywestch@rootsweb.com > Subject: [NYWESTCH] SECOR/SECORD/SICARD research > From: nywestch@rootsweb.com > > > > Is anyone on the list researching the Huguenot Secor/Sicard family? > Does anyone know of a one name study of the family? > > > > *************************************** > Have you checked out the Westchester County GenWeb site yet? > http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~nywestch/ > *************************************** > Browse or Search the Mailing List Archives of postings sent to this list over the years.
