    3. Hi Paul, Official BMD certificates, as opposed to one-line entries in ledgers, began in New York STATE in 1881. [This excludes NY CITY.] In that time period, for Yonkers, it would be a certificate. You might phone ahead to the Yonkers City Clerk's office to find out what's required. With death certificates more than 50 years old, you should NOT need to provide relationship documentation. That's considered "historical."
