2. I have been searching for ages for the parents of Margaret TELLER b.1765 at Teller's Point (now Croton) in Westchester Co., NY. She died 1836 and is buried beside her husband John FORSTER, in the old cemetery in Pleasantville, NY. I have heard that she is a direct descendant of Wilhelm Teller and Rachel Kiersted, who was the daughter of Anneke Jans however, I cannot document this. The Westchester Historical Society is not able to help me. I am curious about the CD from eBay and also other sources such as the New England Historical Society and also the NYG&BS. Do they have CDs? Any suggestions or direction would be most appreciated! Jean

**************************************
AOL now offers free email to everyone. 2. Seeking parents of JOHN JORDAN born 6 Mar 1764 perhaps in Westchester Co, NY He died 26 Jan 1850 Pike, Wyoming Co, NY, but buried in family lot in Friendship, Allegany Co., NY. He married 15 Sep 1785 probably in or near Goshen, Orange Co., NY Julia SWARTOUT born 18 Nov 1769 daughter of Jacobus SWARTOUT who before and during the Revolution lived in Sugar Loaf which is now in town of Chester, Orange Co., NY but then in town of Warwick, Orange Co., NY. Following children born to John and Julia: Michael 1786 in Orange Co; William 1788; Jesse 1790; James 1791; John 1792; Andrew; 1795; Betsey 1797; Isaiah 1799; Sally (Patty) 1801; JACOB 1803; Julia Margaret 1805; Unnamed son 1807 at which time Julia probably died because she does not appear in 1810 census. John/Julia do not appear in the 1790 census of NYS in their own home with two sons nor have I found them in PA, NJ or any N.E. state. By 1800, JORDAN family residing in Cherry Valley, Otsego Co., NY. >From there, Michael, William and Jesse settled in and died in Steuben Co. James and John settled town of Cuba, Allegany Co., NY; Isaiah, after living with his brother, Michael in Steuben Co., migrated on to Allegany Co and he and brothers Andrew and JACOB settled in town of Wirt of Allegany Co., NY. Betsey (Elizabeth) Jordan married Sebastion WELLER and lived in Canajoharie, Montgomery Co., NY. Sally married John DYGERT and lived in Montgomery Co, NY. Julia Margaret married Charles PHELPS, migrated to Pike, Wyoming Co. and it was at her home that JOHN died in 1850. In 1840, JOHN JORDAN is still residing at Cherry Valley but by 1848 has migrated to town of Wirt and because he died before 1850 census was taken, it has been family tradition that he lived with his son, JACOB, but his will probate states he died at home of his daughter in Wyoming Co. ANY help would be appreciate on these above mentioned families.... Please email me at rjthoden@juno.com

    2. Judy, I am researching the surnames of Clark, Connolly, Ferry and Bleakley in Verplanck. It is such a small town I am sure that your mother probably recognizes some of these names. The Clarks lived there from about 1850 - 1910 on 6th St. I am looking for information on a Mary Clark who married William Bleakley - I believe that they lived near the Hudson River because I can remember my dad (who lived in White Plains) telling me how he would visit his aunt and that the children would swim in the Hudson in front of the Bleakley house. Sorry I am not related to the Hickey's. Barbara Clark in Florida

**************************************
AOL now offers free email to everyone. 3. The CDs we have been discussing (and lots more!) have very DETAILED descriptions on the eBay site. The CDs are composed of collections of multiple texts and documents concentrating on a specific REGION, HISTORICAL EVENT, or SUBJECT area. Many contain 5, 10, even 20 separate publications - each individually worth many times the cost of the CD. Each CD is truly a reference BONANZA to the family historian, some with thousands of pages of research information - all complete copies of the originals. The age of most of these text make them inaccessible to the average researcher. Naturally their scarcity and fragility makes them very expensive to acquire, for historical societies, libraries and individuals. When they are acquired they are often kept under lock and key in an effort to preserve them. Unfortunately this also makes them unavailable for research. The CDs contain exact electronic copies of each text as described. They are produced by scanning the actual pages of the original text making them not only excellent resources but archival copies available for future generations. If you could find a hard copy of any of these books it would cost hundreds of dollars. On the otherhand, the average cost of a single CD, has been made very affordable in an effort to make this information obtainable to as many home researchers as possible. Lots of instructions, have been given on how to find these resources, including item numbers taking you directly to a particular item where you will find very extensive descriptions of the CDs, their contents, time frame, how many pages (sometimes over 1000) and some even have links to the ACTUAL contents and index pages of a specific book in PDF format. (Note: I said SOME) I think copyright infringments may occur if the eBay descriptions are fully transcribed here, and some of these descriptions. especially those with PDF contents and index links, contain PAGES of descriptive information. Why should this be repeated here if it is already very clearly outlined on th CD item's page on eBay? I have found the Index to all articles in the NYG&B Record 1983-2005, but cannot see any other access to the earlier editions of the Record except in the CD format. Can you access all editions of the Record once you join? I have been looking at both the NYG&BS and the NEHGS, and having researched in New York a few years back, and having just found my New England roots, I think I may start with the NEHGS (and a visit to New England??). Any recommendations would be very welcome.
