Author: mikkean Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board URL: http://boards.rootsweb.com/localities.northam.usa.states.newyork.counties.westchester/7244.2.1/mb.ashx Message Board Post: He was in the 1920 census in Yonkers and was widowed from his first wife. He married Anna a few weeks after that census. In 1930, he is in Cortlandt/Croton-on-Hudson with his third wife. I know he married in Yonkers in 1928, but he is not in Yonkers in 1925 NY census. I had ordered the film for Ossining 1925 NY Census and he was not there either. I'm finishing going through the rest in that film before ordering the one for Croton-on-Hudson. If I can eventually find him in 1925, then yes, I will have a better idea where he was. >From what I believe, he was living elsewhere and moved back to Yonkers when Anna died and had his mom help with the kids. When he married the 3rd wife, they already had an address in Croton-on-Hudson/Cortlandt. I know Ossining isn't too far from there, and family indicates that Olive was born in Ossining. Since they're not there in 1925, it is possible that they're close by. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. From: Joy Bold Sent: Tuesday, March 06, 2012 12:15 PM To: [email protected] Subject: [NYWESTCH] death records in Yonkers, NY Have you tried contacting either St. John's Episcopal Church or St. Joseph's cemeteries to see if they might have any records? There may be other local cemeteries to check out in Yonkers as well. Does the Yonkers public library have any death records? It's been a long while since I tried getting any info from these places, so don't know if it can be done anymore. She married Oliver Edward Reynolds on 02 Feb 1920 in Yonkers. I have ordered and looked through the 1925 NY Census for Yonkers and Ossining where it is believed her daughter Olive was born in 1924. I cannot locate the family yet, but I've got more searching to do through the '25 census. I believe Anna died between 1925 and early-1928 as her husband Oliver remarried in November 1928 - he had 2 young children - Olive and her sister Viola. She may have died in Yonkers, Ossining, or Croton-on-Hudson / Cortlandt. I've searched the Fulton Postcards site for obits with no luck as it seems the year range I'm looking for has not been added yet. If anyone has any resources available that may help me to determine her date of death, I'd greatly appreciate it. 2. The NYC Municipal Archives has searchable microfilms of birth indexes and certificates up to and including 1909. They began approximately 1861 with the cities of Brooklyn and New York (Manhattan) only. In 1898, when the area became "Greater New York City," records were incorporated from the Bronx, Queens and Richmond Counties. See this for Muni Archives vital records by county> http://www.nyc.gov/html/records/html/vitalrecords/holdings.shtml Ancestry.com has New York City Births, 1891-1902 Beginning in 1910, NYC Births and Deaths are held by NYC Dept of Health on Worth Street. They are not viewable and you must provide multiple documentation. Barb Metro NYC Researcher

    3. Dear Roundtable Members and Friends, By now, you all should have received your spring 2012 Roundtable Newsletters, but I'd like to send you a few reminders of some interesting events that will take place in the coming weeks. Please see our Announcements page for further details on this wonderful event!. http://irishnyhistory.org/announ.htm For more information on this event, please see our flyer at the link below, and feel free to share it with anyone that you think might be interested: http://freepdfhosting.com/47dcb83978.pdf We are pleased to announce that our own John T. Ridge, Roundtable Vice-President for Local History and noted author, has been named the Grand Marshal of the Brooklyn St. Patrick's Day Parade by the Brooklyn Irish American Parade Committee. The parade will take place on Sunday, March 18th, 2012, commencing with a Mass at Holy Name Church at 9:00 AM, and then a noontime assembly at the beginning of the parade route at Prospect Park West and 14th Street. The parade will march through the community of historic Park Slope. For more information about this event, please call 718-499-9482 <tel:718-499-9482> Receptions of an Irish Rebel: Behan in New York 1960-1964 On Saturday, March 24 at 2:00 pm, Dr. Stephen Butler will describe and discuss the controversial issues behind Irish playwright Brendan Behan's sensational visit to New York City during the 1960s. By the time of his arrival here, Behan had become famous for innovative dramas and notorious for outrageous conduct. He quickly became a public figure loved and loathed -- and loved again -- by Irish New Yorkers. Why? Come and help discover the answers. The program will take place in the McCloskey Room, Parish House for St. Patrick's Old Cathedral, 263 Mulberry Street. A coffee/tea reception will follow. Please see our Announcements page for further details on this program. http://irishnyhistory.org/announ.htm Music Across the Ocean: The Transatlantic Impact of N.Y. This program will take place in the hall of Our Lady of Rosary Church, 7 State Street in Manhattan (between Pearl & Whitehall Streets). A coffee/tea reception will follow. Please see our Announcements page for further details on this program. http://irishnyhistory.org/announ.htm Symposium on Irish History Interested persons are invited to attend a free symposium on Irish History supported by Our Lady of the Rosary Church (at the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton National Shrine), in conjunction with Pace University, on Saturday, May 5th from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Refreshments will be served.
