I found where I got the North and South mixed up. I'm actually researching Adolf Kratzke who on his 1918 WW1 draft registration listed himself as living at 215 South Railroad Avenue. When I found a Louis at 215 Railroad, I missed the North part and assumed he was living at the same address as Adolf. Was there actually a 215 South RR? Perhaps both of them are there? Is there a street look-up for the 1920 census? Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. However, I can't seem to find him in the 1920 New York census, or find that address even. I found North Railroad 4-47 in Ward 4 district 92, and South Railroad 11-155 in district 91, but no 215. One of my RW ancestors Jonathon Youmans, born in 1763, enlisted, and was put to work doing various tasks in Ann Hawke Hayes outfit, in the later years of the war. He would have been 15 in 1778 when he enlisted. So they definitely allowed it, but they were mostly gophers, I think, doing "householding", as I like to call them, types of duties. I'm not sure he ever saw any military action. Brian

    1. [NYWESTCH] Rev War possible source in NY
    2. I have been following this thread, and would like to put my take on this. There are in the NYS archives in their Digital Collections, 2 digitized files concerning the account books the state had to audit and close out debts for anything concerning the war. They list the places where the state's money went. Applications for pensions and the dates of service by soldiers or survivors are listed. Claims for pay while a prisoner are listed. Mililtia, NMilitary and Civilians who supplied materials or labor are also listed. Even the owners who had guns or lead taken by the state. It makes for fascinating reading. While not indexed or with alot of place names it is a gold mine for uinformation if you have the patience. The books can be downloaded in 20 pg increments and the handwqriting is fairly clear. Being survivors of the 1911, its a wonder we have them. Hope this helps Rick Porter Finger Lakes House Histories

Do not even take early SAR or DAR records as correct- keep searching for valid proof. This is why many people now must reprove lines to get accepted into those organizations. Hospital records are few and far between. I need to find papers belonging to the doctors who were assigned to Fishkill's hospital to see if any records they kept still exist. 3. LOL... Did you see "Who Do You Think you Are?" last week? Rob Lowe found himself in that exact position. Thanks for feedback. BTW... Jean Ann from this list found some Revolutionary War Rolls on Fold3 that indicate a Hermon Yerks served in and around West Point in 1779. He could be one of the relatives I am looking for, but I can find NO other mention of him anywhere regarding the Revolution. No pension records... nothing. There is a Harmon Yerks who served in PA, but I am pretty sure it is a different person. He shows up in NO DAR applications. Of course, if it is from my wife's line, it would make sense. Some of the children of Hermon were VERY poor. That lasted for at least two generations. They probably had little interest in that organization when they has little money. It might also make sense because the Hermon Yerks in my wife's tree would be between the ages of 12 and 16 during the time period of the Muster Rolls. Maybe he ran up to West Point as a kid to try to join but was never recognized for pension purposes. 3. Many of the details in these original documents were authenticated with SAR and DAR applications long ago. It's a matter of finding an ancestor whose bloodline has already been proven and then simply proving your bloodline to them. I'd be mildly surprised if there are any RW Patriots who are not in the rolls already. Any of the records referred to in applications that are now destroyed should not be necessary to produce, as they would already have been vetted by the society. It should be a valid source to use as proof. Even if 2/3 of the originals are gone. The remains of the collection are still viewable in Albany. Still, the pedantic in me, would love to get my hands on the original records. Someday, I'll get around to sending in my application. I have all the proof I need, just never makes it to the top of my todo list. Is there also a society for Torie descendants? I may have one or two of them in my direct line, as well. Definitely have uncles in that category. Brother against brother, literally. It must have been a very sad and trying time. I can't imagine the heartache of fighting against my brothers. Or my father, or children.
