His sons Daniel and John Secord fought in the War of 1812.They lived in Brantford, Ontario and then the family (Daniel Secord Jr married to Elizabeth Perrin) moved to Oakland, Ontario. There is documentation about Daniel Secord , Loyalist losing his land deed in a fire and his sons went to the Six Nations chief's and had another copy done. I got a copy from Oshweken a few years ago.The land deed can be found at the Land office in Brantford, Ontario.Daniel Secord Jr and his wife Elizabeth are buried in the Oakland cemetery. Some Secord researcher have Daniel Secord, Loyalist (mine) who fought with the Indian Department as the son of Daniel Secord and Elinor Archer and others who say he is the son of Peter Secord and Abigail Fowler. Daniel Secord UE of the Grand River is a Loyalist in his own right so I have my proofs back to him. I am willing to share the information I have. Daniel Sr and I guess his son Daniel. Ambroise Sicard the Huguenot from France had 5 children, Ambroise, Daniel, Jacques, Marie, Silvie. Daniel Sicard married Catherine Mabie and had Daniel (the first Secord) born in New Rochelle, NY, March 1698, according to the 1st "Census" of the area. (Sept 1698) That Daniel married Catherine Woertman and had 4 sons, Daniel, Jean/John, Pierre/Peter, Jacques/James. His daughters were Rachel, Sophia, Maria, Sarah, Ann, Margery. The 3 younger brothers James, Peter, and John and their wives and children all went out to the Susquehanna River Valley in Pennsylvania in 1773. (James, son of James, who later married Laura Ingersoll was just a few months old.) Their sister Maria/Mary married Joshua Beebe and went too. Those Secord brothers and their older sons and and Mary and Joshus Beebe became Loyalists. (Butler's Rangers, Indian Dept) Their older brother Daniel stayed back in New Rochelle, and didnt go to PA however he may have known his brothers were Loyalists. I have John, Peter, James, Mary in PA but there may have been other siblings. John lived near Tunkhannock, Pater and James were near Mehoopany. (Wyoming Co) Mary their sister is also recognized as a Loyalist and lived in the area also. (Joshua died of smallpox in 1778 and after that Mary went to Canada with her children. She had earlier married Daniel Chedayne and John Crookston. She married Christopher Pearson in 1781) Their older brother Daniel was born in New Rochelle in 1724, married Elinor Archer/Warner and died in Somers, NY in 1818. I dont know if he ever went to Canada. Do you know the history of your Daniel Sr the Loyalist ? I confess I used to think he never became a Loyalist. Daniel the son of Daniel and Elinor was born in New Rochelle in 1759 married Elizabedth Hurst and died in Brantford, Ontario in 1832. Here's Daniel the son's page from the UELAC website but I believe you supplied much of the info. http://www.uelac.org/Loyalist-Info/detail.php?letter=s&line=140 Daniel Sr also had a daughter Susannah who married a Loyalist, Albert Berdan, and went to Canada. The sons of John who were Loyalists were John and Daniel The sons of Peter who were Loyalists were David, Silas, Daniel, Peter The sons of James Sr who were Loyalists were Solomon, Stephen, David, (and maybe John and Simon). Mary Secord Beebe's son Adin/Aden may have been a Loyalist. I have UELAC certificates for my James Secord Sr and his son Stephen (Etienne).
