I spent almost an hour yesterday typing out the family history of my Grand daughters seventh great grandmother, Princess Eunice Mauwee. As I was in the process of sending it, I lost it!! Eunice lived to 104 years of age. If there is any interest shown ,I will retype it on this site. I have her wonderful history back to the great sachem, Sassacus. Marianne

The film she looked at said that his death was recorded in Kensico and so I sent the correct funds and document request to Mt. Pleasant. It was returned to me and so I called their office. I spoke to the woman who did the search and she told me that she looked through the entire month of July 1889 and could not find the record. She also noted that the death certificate number was too many digits for that year. She thought it might be a gravesite number at Kensico Cemetery but I knew it was not since I know where Robert Carroll is buried in Rye Brook. I double checked with the cemetery and they confirmed he was not buried there. I'd like to avoid sending off to the NY state office for these records because it can take as long as six to eight months for a reply. I've also checked with Greenwich (CT) town records because of the proximity of Westchester and Fairfield counties. They do not have any record of his death. I also checked with the cemetery he is buried in but their records for that era have been lost. Is there anyone who would be willing to take the information that I have and see if they could track down the actual certificate? I will be happy to reimburse for costs of doing so. The information is as follows: Robert Carroll; death July 30, 1889; Cert Number 26498; Kensico (the town that registered the death) Thanks. Boston Courier published in Boston, MA. February 23 1860 Description: Death of an Old Indian Princess. Wednesday last week, Eunice MANWEE, the last full blooded Indian of the Pishgachligoh tribe, and a resident of the Indian Reserve, in Kent, N. Y., died at the age of 103 years. She was the granddaughter of Gideon MANWEESEMUM, the last sachem of the tribe and the first convert made by the Moravian Missionaries in that region. He was baptised by them in 1743 when he received the name of Gideon. The tribe was driven from Rhode Island during the King Phillip War. During the Revolution, the tribe was quite numerous, and furnished one hundred warriors, but now is reduced to fifty half-breeds. Eunice had been twice married, and had nine children, none of whom are now living. Her fist husband was John SATTANY and her second, Peter SHERMAN. She was baptised and received into the Congregational Church, in Kent, in 1844. In her latter days she was taken care of by her grand-daughter, Lavinia CARTER.

She was born in New Rochelle April 1904. She was a teacher at Roosevelt Public School and Washington Public School. She wnt to Columbia College in 1938. In 1958 she resided at 151 Centre Street. Looking for her obituary and burial location. Her SS lists her as Theodora Milton, but she may have been called Dortha, Theo or Dora or maybe Dorothy. As far as I can tell she never married- unless it was after 1958. Her sister, Deborah A Milton was also a teacher. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks in advance!! Did you go to the all girls school in Dobbs Ferry? There seems to be a few schools with the same name. I remember the grotto which I loved. What about the castle type structure in the back by the playground. I have good memories. Do you remember the names of any of the nuns? I can not find any pictures of the Dobbs Ferry school anywhere. I know it's now a nursing home, but I can not find any archival pictures of the school. Maybe you know how to go about doing this.
