    3. Phil, Do you have the information on, or are you related to, Andrew, Moses and Nicholas Yerks of Orange County, NY? -----Original Message----- From: [email protected] [mailto:[email protected]] On Behalf Of Philip L Hayes Sent: Tuesday, May 01, 2012 4:27 PM To: [email protected] Subject: Re: [NYWESTCH] Manuscripts of Colony and State of New York in the Revolutionary War LOL... Did you see "Who Do You Think you Are?" last week? Rob Lowe found himself in that exact position. Thanks for feedback. BTW... Jean Ann from this list found some Revolutionary War Rolls on Fold3 that indicate a Hermon Yerks served in and around West Point in 1779. He could be one of the relatives I am looking for, but I can find NO other mention of him anywhere regarding the Revolution. No pension records... nothing. There is a Harmon Yerks who served in PA, but I am pretty sure it is a different person. He shows up in NO DAR applications. Of course, if it is from my wife's line, it would make sense. Some of the children of Hermon were VERY poor. That lasted for at least two generations. They probably had little interest in that organization when they has little money. It might also make sense because the Hermon Yerks in my wife's tree would be between the ages of 12 and 16 during the time period of the Muster Rolls. Maybe he ran up to West Point as a kid to try to join but was never recognized for pension purposes. 1. [NYWESTCH] TAYLOR - BIDLEMAN Family Photograph
    2. Shelley Cardiel
    3. I've "rescued" an old photograph of Julia TAYLOR BIDLEMAN CARLING which was taken at the C. L. Obst Studio in Pittsfield, Illinois. The photograph appears to have been taken in the 1880's or 1890's with Julia appearing to be in her 30's at the time. In addition to her name and various surnames, someone has also written the following notes on the back of this photograph - "Aunt" "Mama's Sister" and "Mother of Willie & Epley BIDLEMAN and Elsie CARLING VANDERBILT and Philip Taylor CARLING". Based on limited research I was able to gather the following information regarding Julia and her family as follows: Julia's son William James BIDLEMAN was b. 16 Mar 1874 and registered for the draft in 1917/1918 while living in Montgomery Co. MO. His occupation at the time was Mine Supervisor at the Wellsville Fire Brick Co. Julia's daughter Elsie Irene CARLING was b. 22 Mar 1888 or 1889 in Jersey City, NJ, her father was John A. CARLING (b.1843 in Ireland) with John noted as having 10 children including Samuel; Laura; Nome; Mary E.; Florence; Margaret; Charles; Albert; Edward; Elsie Irene; and Philip Taylor CARLING, all born between 1867 and 1893. I believe that only Elsie and Philip were children of Julia and the others were born to a different Mother. Elsie married Franklin VANDERBILT (1890-1960) and together they had two children including, Margaret May VANDERBILT b. 1917. Elsie died Mar 1984 in Bronxville, NY. Julia's son Philip Taylor CARLING was b. 23 Oct 1893 in NJ and d. 19 Aug 1941 and is buried in the Forest Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery in Glendale, CA. 3. The main two Irish churches would be St Gabriel's Church and Blessed Sacrament. However, all RC churches had many Irish parishioners. All should be checked, others include: Holy Family (north side of NR) Holy Name (east side of NR) St Joseph's (west side of NR, lots of Italians) I may of missed one but don't think so. Going from memory. I was raised in New Rochelle. My mother, grandmother and gr grandmother were born and raised there. > -- Pat Connors, Sacramento CA http://www.connorsgenealogy.com

    1. [NYWESTCH] Downing
    2. Hi All Fred and Mable Downing were buried in, I believe "Gates of Heaven" cemetery in Ardsley . (They both died within a year of each other 1969-1970.) I was wondering if someone could take a gravestone photo for me. I requested one on find a grave 7 or 8 months ago and no luck. I do not know the plot number. They were my grandparents on my mother's side, and since I am hear in Texas I can't track them down myself. Art Williams
