My grandfather worked for A Smith Rugs, in Philadelphia and someplace in 'upstate' NY. I am wondering if it was in Yonkers. Does anyone know if there is an archivist with the Westchester genealogy group, who might be knowledgeable about old employment records for the company? My ggrandfather was James Hill. Thanks for any suggestions. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Author: l_bozarth Surnames: Classification: queries Message Board: [2]Click here Message Board Post: Thanx much for your response to my query. I have the information on James Daniel Malone and Mary Etta Findley as they are my great grandparents and I am here in Washington (transplanted from Northern California). I am most focused now on going back a generation to James Daniel's parents. I have found a Dempsey family from the Bronx, New York that is somehow part of this family (James' mother was supposedly Ellen Dempsey), but have not been able to tie them together. I found a Prudence Dempsey Stegmaier who lived and died at the James Daniel Malone home in 1917. Her death certificate lists tuberculosis as the cause of death -- did her husband and family send her out to Oregon for the climate??? A couple of newspaper clippings I found list her ten-year-old son as James Malone's grandson, however, I do not think this is factual -- her parents are Thomas and Prudence Blount Dempsey. If Thomas and Ellen are siblings there is a great age difference -- I wonder if James Daniel and Thomas are cousins instead . . . I have searched in several different directions. Thomas' parents are Garrit and Margaret Welsh Dempsey from Parish Trim, Diocese Meath, County Meath, Ireland and I have found several children of theirs, but no Ellen! Just gotta' keep diggin'. Thanks again for your response. Lois M. Bozarth wayloboz@gmail.com Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list. Dear Friends, This is the link to county online indexes> http://archives.westchestergov.com/online-indexes-gene Here's an overlooked source of Westchester County records > http://www.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~nywestch/ Barb
Hello, Do you have any county records for your SHAY and FAIRCHILD families? I looked quickly at the Court Records Index and found cases labeled: l) John SHAY in 1790 2) Daniel FAIRCHILD in 1841 These are the earliest records I found in a few indexes, but did not search thoroughly. You might also search for sibs or children of your ancestors. Take care, Barb Common Pleas ill -----Original Message----- From: Douglas Lyon via <nywestch@rootsweb.com> Timothy SHAY in North Salem, wife Hannah FAIRCHILD. Both from CT. Timothy was in Revolutionary war. Died about 1840-50.
