    3. I got a response yesterday about my offer. The seller has now put an additional feature on that CD which is called Best Offer. That is in addition to Buy It Now. I was not told if the price I offered was acceptable, but the fact that feature was added must mean something. I wrote tonight to say that a friend had bought the CD two or three months ago at a price of $10.99. I said that I represented 11 people who were each willing to pay $11 plus $2 shipping, and I asked if that was acceptable. I figured that those people willing to pay $10 wouldn't mind paying $1 more to entice the seller into an agreement. I will let you know when I get a response. Cliff

    3. I became a member of the NYGBS just recently. I took my tax refund, and was going to get a complete set of their CDs of the RECORD. And then the society called me - If I became a member and still bought all the CDs, because of the break on the price to members, It was only $5 more. Now I have all the CDs... and a one year membership - and access to Papers and all kinds of NY records online. WAY worth it, a great use of my Refund $$. And, since everyone is curious about the County CDs - I have over the last few years bought some through the EBay store (company name GenealogyCds) and was Very pleased... I have 6 counties now and just ordered 2 more. I believe we paid less than $20 for each... and I have used them over and over. Well worth every penny - and It costs more to go out for pizza than the cost of the CDs if you use the "BUY IT NOW" option. Now I can research for hours... At home in my PJs. Rebecca in VT http://mysite.verizon.net/vzeoq7kf/ <snip> Are you aware that the RECORD is available on line now to members of the NYG&BS? If you need to buy several CDs, it might be just as economical to join. Besides you get other nice things like access to the pre-1820 newspapers for USA. <snip> .I have the NYG&B Record (CD Disc 5) 1940-1960 (originally purchased for the research on the FEAKE family) and have noted your reference below to the work of Theresa Hall Bristol. It looks like I need a couple of earlier CDs!

    3. Carol, I've been looking for this also. From reading the bios on Capt Abraham Hatfield, I'm of the opinion it would have been Grace Church, in White Plains for I believe it said he was once a vestryman of the church. After the Rev. War ended, the Anglican churches broke affiliation with England and were called Episcopal. I'm not shore if the parish name would change, though. I have Hatfield ancestors who died in NY City environs and can't be found in early NY burial sites. I'm thinking perhaps they were taken to the family plot. Some have suggested the Kensico Reservoir displaced many. I haven't had anything at all on that. 2. For citizenship/naturalization papers, have you tried the Westchester County Archives at http://www.co.westchester.ny.us/wcarchives/ and their online resources for Naturalization Records, 1808-1927 -- Personal Name Index. I was able to find a number of papers here for a client. Initial question I was wondering if someone could tell me what type of information is found on citizenship papers. My grandfather came from czech and received his papers in 1924(yonkers, ny). If the papers are worth getting where would I obtain them?

    3. Thank you for the FOWLER information Craig. I have just started looking at this family line, and found a lot of records online, which are very helpful as a guideline, but finding credible sources that confirm these records is another matter. I have the NYG&B Record (CD Disc 5) 1940-1960 (originally purchased for the research on the FEAKE family) and have noted your reference below to the work of Theresa Hall Bristol. It looks like I need a couple of earlier CDs! Through the Genealogy and History of Westchester County CD (Early Wills), I have been able to establish my 7 x Great Grandparents were John HUNT married Grace FOWLER. Also, with the assistance of the wills, I was able to establish Grace's brother was Jeremiah FOWLER (who I assume, was from Eastchester, will details: 26 September 1723; Proved: 23 December 1723; Liber 9. P.486) Online sources have their parents as Henry FOWLER (died 1687 in Mamaroneck NY?) and Rebecca NEWELL. Unfortunately their wills are not as helpful as the HUNT family, so couldn't confirm this information. So that's my starting point!! Any suggestions and assistance with the FOWLER connections of Grace and brother Jeremiah would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks Marg Smith Mardi, NSW Australia Subject: Re: [NYWESTCH] Fowler research > In 1927 Theresa Hall Bristol began a long running series in the NEW YORK > GENEALOGICAL AND BIOGRAPHICAL RECORD on the Fowler family entitled THE > DESCENDANTS OF HENRY FOWLER that continued right up until her death with > the last installment being published in April 1941. > > This family had never been chronicled to amount to anything prior to that > time. 3. Having bought and sold on eBay I agree with what Jean Ann has offered below. I would also like to add that (on the Australian site at least) one of the guidelines states: to be protected by eBay's safety measures including the Buyer Protection Program it is essential you always complete your transaction on the site - do not trade outside of eBay with people you meet at eBay. Be wary of sellers who respond slowly or try to entice you to trade outside of eBay. Check the seller's Feedback rating and positive, neutral and negative comments provided by other members. View the sellers other items to assess the overall quality and type of items the seller trades and closely examine photographs to assess an item's condition and check that it is a genuine photo of the actual item being sold. Having said all that, I have actually purchased eight CDs from the other source Jean Ann lists below, including the Genealogy and History of Westchester County, New York again on sale as Buy Now, or by auction (search: 230094264698), which means I have a lot of reading to do!! Already, part of the above CD, the "Early Wills of Westchester County, New York : from 1664 to 1784" has allowed me to confirm Mary HUNT was the wife of Nathaniel UNDERHILL and her parents were John and Grace HUNT (nee FOWLER). Many (sometimes conflicting!!) records online are very helpful as a guideline, but finding credible sources that confirm these records is a necessity. The search engines, quality and quantity of the CDs I have purchased have been excellent and very helpful when researching from so far away.
