June, I haven't really been watching the list, did you get a response to this request? -----Original Message----- From: nywestch-bounces@rootsweb.com [mailto:nywestch-bounces@rootsweb.com] On Behalf Of J.H. Sent: Thursday, April 12, 2007 4:00 PM To: NYWESTCH@rootsweb.com; NYC-ROOTS-L@rootsweb.com; NY Westchester-Rooters; ITALIANS-NY-L@rootsweb.com Subject: [NYWESTCH] Question - for 1910 Census Dear Group, I am asking this question, because after found out most of this information I then did not have Ancestry anymore. But I do remember looking for this info when I had Ancestry & did not find it. Wondering if you can - If you have the time (I could wait until Ancestry is free again)! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ What I have - 1900 Census - Queens, NY Maduske, John, born 1849 - Otilie, born 1858 - August, born 1884 & Olga, born 1890 1910 Census - Manhattan, NY Maduske, John (killed himself 3 days after census) 1920 Census - Manhattan, NY Anderson, Chas - Otillia - Whalen, Olga & 4 kids ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ What I am looking for - 1 - 1910 Census - the wife - Ottilia, Otilie, Tillie Maduske (as she did not remarry until Aug. 1910). Where was she! 2 - 1910 Census - the daughter - Olga Maduske - (she married Charles Whalen in 1910 I believe, as her 1st. child was born Aug. 1910) 3 - 1910 Census - the son - August Maduske - (when he died in 1914 his death certificate said "Married"). Please only if you have time to mess around in the 1910 census. I already got the death certificates for John & August Maduske & they are buried in the same cemetery, as family I know of, in St. Michael's Cemetery (Olga & Ottilie/Tillie), But both their death certificates just say "Married" no wife name & I need this proof to prove whom they are. My brother is going to St. Michael's to check this out, as St. Michael's will not even tell me WHERE they are buried in the cemetery, until I send them $25.00 for them to go into their back files for the information. I just know you are going to run with this as I have seen you do with any inquiry that has come in & I would so appreciate that, as you guys are better at this then I - but please know you do not have to. Thanks, June :-) *************************************** Have you checked out the Westchester County GenWeb site yet? http://www.rootsweb.com/~nywestch/ *************************************** ------------------------------- To unsubscribe from the list, please send an email to NYWESTCH-request@rootsweb.com with the word 'unsubscribe' without the quotes in the subject and the body of the message

Deb http://www.westchesterarchives.com/ For those Ct. folks with Westchester, NY links....the Westchester Archives now have an online presence.... I found them through the Westchester County Historical Society website. I was searchng for Baptist Cemeteries on King St. King St. goes in and out of Ct. on it's trip up to Armonk, NY...There is supposed to be an old BAptist Cemetery somewhere along King St. but I have never seen it...and I have not walked King St. since I was a teenager. http://www.westchesterhistory.com/index.html Can you point out where to come from this main page, to get cemeteries? I tried the links and saw no cemeteries and no Port Chester. I also tried the virtual archives which looks absolutley fascinating.....I will do them another time. What a great idea they are! I know the archives will be well used...I often use the NEHGS and the NYGBS on line material...it helps alot! I can't get to these places to search...I do get to the New HAven Hist. Society..I highly recommend that for a day trip from NY...up the shore...it's great....if you do the MErritt PArkway it's a nice drive....then go down Whitney Ave. from HAmden to New HAven...nice places to eat lunch too. I did not see a cemetery link.....on the main page...I guess you have to wade through several layers to find it? I also did not see a Rye, NY link...I much prefer the USGEnweb sites where everything is laid out. I wil have to set aside time this afternoon, if I can, to decipher the website. Nancy ----- Original Message ----- From: "Cliff Lamere" <clifflamere@nycap.rr.com> To: <NYWESTCH-L@rootsweb.com> Sent: Sunday, April 15, 2007 9:46 AM Subject: [NYWESTCH] A Memorial to my Parents A genealogist's perspective: I got interested in my family's genealogy about two or three years before my mother died in 1999. In 2000, I put my genealogy website online (Albany & Eastern New York Genealogy). Over time I learned how difficult it was to find even the slightest reference to some of the people who lived in the past. About 2004, I commissioned a Requiem for chorus and orchestra to be composed to honor my parents, but also to make sure that their names have a chance of being remembered in the future. "For Us the Living: Requiem in Memory of William and Ethel Lamere" was composed by Alfred V. Fedak and will be performed April 22, 2007 at 7 p.m. at the Union College Memorial Chapel in Schenectady, NY. There will be advertising and perhaps an article or review in some local newspapers. I requested that their names be part of the title so that, hopefully, a distant greatgrandchild of my parents will locate some of this information on the internet decades from now. I requested that the requiem be beautiful rather than modern. That will make it more likely that the composition may be performed in the future and that its name may appear on a CD or in a music publisher's catalog. I was told that what I have done is unusual because ordinary people don't have music composed for ordinary parents. It is true that my parents made no important contributions to society, but they struggled to raise a family during the Great Depression and World War II. They provided for me, and they taught me lasting values. I love and miss them, and I want them to be remembered. Somehow my interest in genealogy, my interest in helping people (my website) and my interest in music all led to this single act. Before commissioning the Requiem, I tried to get the Saint-Saëns Requiem, my favorite choral work, performed in their honor. However, the orchestra for that piece was too large. Rand Reeves, conductor of the Burnt Hills Oratorio Society, and Alfred Fedak, composer of the memorial to my parents, were able to reduce the the number of instruments in the orchestra, making it possible for that requiem to also be performed at the concert. It is not my intention to advertise the concert here, but I thought that this genealogical act might be of interest to some members of the mailing list. Yes it was. If you see wills dated back before 1900, (as an example date), you notice that any child under 21 was listed as a dependent and their inheritance's were withheld until they were 21.
