    1. [NYWESTCH] Dutch ship "The Onrust"
    2. C. Frank
    3. The Dutch ship "Onrust" is believed to be the first ship built by Europeans in N. America in 1614. A reproduction of the ship is being built at the historic Mabee Farm here in Schenectady County. A friend of mine, Howie Mittleman, is Lead Ship Carpenter on the project, so I've been putting some time in over there. Amazing stuff. If your a history or sail buff, or just looking for a day trip this summer, swing by and check things out. www.theonrust.com www.mabeefarm.org Charles

    3. I've often wondered that with the surnames AURY and AVERY. When handwritten on a census they look the same. My specific brickwall is Hannah Aury who signed the will of Joseph Gee in 1716 in Westchester with my 7th great grandfather......and major brickwall..... Matthew Smith . The only "Aurys" I'm finding are ORRYS and none are in that area .....very few anywhere that I can find. Averys in comparison were in Westchester in the 1600s and onward. Does anyone know more about this?? 3. Thanks, Robert. Sarah is listed with George Conklin, they are listed with Frank and Susie Knight, it is on p. 255A. Susie Knight is Sarah & George's daughter. Sarah Conklin b. 6/1834 age 65 married 44 years, born Wisconsin (I don't know about the latter; I have her death certificate and it indicates she was b. in Broome Co. NYS, which fits with family history; that she was a member of the Iroquois Nation, Mohawk Tribe, lived in the western part of NYS and was adopted by a Westchester County family as a young girl, her maiden name was Sarah E. Cronk, but I'd love to know her Native American name.) She is buried in Sleepy Hollow Cemetery. 3. Paul, On www.castlegarden.org I found an Andr. Sabol and an Andras Sabol that came here in the 1880's. I also found the family on the 1920 Census. By that time Mary was widowed, and the children living with her were Anna Sabol, Edward Sabol, and Velma Sabol. A couple of nephews with the last name of Zack were also living in the household. 1. Re: [NYWESTCH] Reuse d Graves
    2. quillpen1
    3. They do not dig up old remains in any area cemeteries that I know of. My olderst son is buried with his grandparents here in Dutchess County. There was enough room in their double plot for his urn between their caskets. They adored him and he them and would have been thrilled to share eternity together. Note that I said ETERNITY.....not just until some idiot comes up with a harebrained scheme to dig them up and separate them. My above example of grave sharing is not in any way the same as burying STRANGERS with family members whose plots we have paid for and hold deeds too. Bottom line....... it is land that we own and should have a right to "hold forever" as all deeds state here in NYS.
