Source, The Whitehall Times--Thur. May 27, 1976. WHITEHALL, N.Y. ALFRED S. WASHBURN. Alfred S Washburn, 67, died at his home, 108 Main street,last Friday after a long illness. He was a retired proprietor of the Sachs Jewelry store. Mr. Washburn was born in Hudson Falls March 2, 1909, a son of the late Spencer and Eva Havens. He was a graduate of Hudson Falls High school, where he was a member of the school's champion football team in 1926. He Later served as an area football official. He was a member and past master of Phoenix lodge, 96, F. and A. M. ; a member of Champlain Chapter, 25, R. A. M. ; Calvary Commandery, 69, Knights Templar, of Hudson Falls ; Whitehall Shrine temple, and Whitehall lodge, 1491, B.P.O. Elks. Surviving are his wife, the former Anna Margaret Sachs, of Whitehall ; a brother, Foster Washburn of Glens Falls ; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services were conducted at the Jillson funeral home Sunday afternoon by the Rev. George E. Greenough, pastor of the First Presbyterian church. Burial was in Union cemetery, Fort Edward.
