    3. Following is a transcription of an obit for Mrs. Patience Allen published in the Schuylerville Standard, August 18, 1886. "*Death of a Former Resident of Easton*. From the/ Gogebic Iron Tribune/, published at Hurley, Wisconsin, we copy the following. Mrs. Allen was a native of Easton, and has many relatives living in this vicinity: DIED: At Ashland, Wis., July 27, 1886, at 7:20 P.M., Mrs. Patience Allen, aged 59 years. Mrs. Allen was the wife of Chauncey B. Allen of this city. Mrs. Allen was born in Washington county, New York, and afterwards moved to Muskegon, Michigan, where she was married Aug. 28, 1855. She came to this city early this spring and assisted her husband in keeping a boarding house and enjoyed her usual health until two weeks ago, when she was suddenly taken ill. Everything that medical skill and attention could do was done but all in vain. on the day of her death she was removed to St. Joseph's Hospital, Ashland, at which place she died the same evening in the presence of her loving husband and companion for so many long years and her only child, George, the object ever of her tender solicitude. Peacefully she laid down life's weary burden like a weary, worn out child, to sleep, in the presence of those she loved so well for for whom she had labored so long. Far from the scenes of her early childhood, whose memories cam stealing o'er her as she listened to the beautiful music from the eternal shore, where there is no more sorrow and the weary are forever at rest. Mrs. Allen was a kind and loving wife and mother and beloved by all who knew her. Her remains were buried at Ashland." Transcribed August 16, 2010 by Pat Peck
