Nancy Johnsen Curran, a professional genealogist and regular researcher at the NYS Library and other area repositories, is the speaker for the November 21 Heritage Hunters meeting at the Saratoga Springs Public Library at 1 pm. She will start with all the many types of information that can be found in vital records and how best to obtain them in NYS. Answering questions is one of her favorite ways to present what people need to know in finding their answers, so bring your questions for Nancy. Well acquainted with the vital records of New York State, she is often at the NYS Archives at Albany, searching the vital records indexes as well as unique records of a span of more than 350 years. She brings to genealogy research a discipline instilled by many years in print and electronic journalism. Experience as a feature writer and columnist is called into play, as she presents factual history in readable, interesting form. Curran is a member of the Association of Professional Genealogists, the Genealogical Speakers Guild, the New York Genealogical & Biographical Society, the New England Historic Genealogy Society, the National Genealogical Society, the Association of Professional Genealogists, and serves on the boards of the New Netherland Institute and the Schenectady County Historical Society.
