Source, The Poultney (Vt.) Journal--Fri. May 25, 1928. HAMPTON, N.Y. John R. Jones, for many years a resident of this town, passed away at his home on Saturday evening. Mr. Jones was born in Middle Granville, N.Y., April 30, 1868, son of Richard and Rebecca Jones. He was married to Mary Williams and four children were born to them, the oldest son, Richard, being drowned in the Mettowee river together with the mother in an attempt to rescue the son. Three other children survive, Mrs. Albert McConhie and William Jones of Hampton and Roy Jones of Poultney, Vt. The funeral was held at his late home Tuesday afternoon. Rev. S. D.
