To Leslie and Vicki, Thank you for looking for me. I didn't know that New York was at one time a part of the state of MA.thank you for that info. It may help me in some future searching. I appreciate all your thoughts on this matter. This may be one of those problems that don't get resolved but it won't stop me from continuing to look. Thanks again. Eileen
Eileen, I feel that is is more accurate to say that there was a small area of land on the east side of the Hudson River, which both New York and Massachusetts both claimed. The Massachusetts claim was based on the fact that some people from Massachusetts had settled the area and they did not recognize New York's jurisdiction over them. The bigger boundary dispute involved the "Hampshire Grants", a/k/a the present day state of Vermont, which New York claimed. Leslie
