Eileen, Yes, White Creek is one of the old names for Salem. Some called the place White Creed, but the Rev. Thomas Clark's congregation called it New Perth. So the inhabitants later chose to compromise and agreed to call it Salem. I would have to dig to find the date on which they all agreed to call the place Salem.
