Hi Janice and thanks for your advice - I entered the amount and got $28 (approx) - then I took it over to another website and entered that amount for 1787 and for 2007 it came up to be about $650. The question now remains - how much does the sterling equivalency change? Is/was 14 lbs always worth $28 USD? Is there anyone out there with more ideas on the subject? Nancy, In the 1800's the British Pound was worth about $5 USA. I don't know where to find the tables any more, I found it looking up my great-grandmother's birth in Wales, England.
