    3. We have a family and neighborhood plot that we found. It is in DeKalb County IL.(out of Sycamore) (this family did come from Washington Co NY). Anyway, they had a family/neighbor plot that was out in a field. After the farm was sold, the sale said they had to keep the cemetery fenced and clear. They did not honor that agreement. Pigs were allowed to root through the area. When I "found" it it was deep far back in a corn field. And a Mess! One of my cousins had also found it and she was able to get a group together a couple years later and they all went out there and cleaned underbrunch, dead trees and etc. Then they tried to set up stones, mark graves that the stones were all broken up. Tried to dig up sunken stones so they could be read. They did find a map of this cemetery at the DeKalb Historical Society which helped with the project. I did not get to join them, but wish I could have. There is also another family that were Quakers near Easton, Washington CO NY. Quakers do not use cemetery stones. This cousin did visit the Historical Society and did go out and think she did locate the old homestead. She found where the the foundation of the house was, etc, but would never be sure of the exact location of that cemetery, unfortunately. Wish they had left maps of those things, but I suppose they told families down through a few generations, until it became "family tradition". I know there are lots more stories like this. Gayle
