I know that Pawlet Vermont is very close to the border of New York state (Washington County) Was that area ever a part of New York state? I have relatives that married in Pawlet, VT but have been unable to find any birth records for the children. Thanks for any information you can give me. Eileen

Eileen Without knowing the time frame you are referring to, the closest hospital in recent times to the Pawlet area was in Granville, New York, just across the border in Washington county. The hospital was in operation from 1944 to 1989 and a lot of children in the Pawlet, West Pawlet, Wells area were born there during its operation.
