    2. Yes. According to Thorne's "New York Atlas of Historical County Boundaries" All of the present day state of Vermont was claimed by the Province of New York from July 20 1764 to 1767. Starting in 1767 New York began to lose territory in Vermont in stages. Seven stages to be precise.
