Sharon: I have a friend in California that is from a Root family during this time frame but further south in Columbia County. In my case of Crippen family members, they were also from further south but came to Washington county for the land that had been taken from the Loyalists during the war. Additionally Granville became a hot spot in the slate mining industry. I will give him a shout and ask if he has any Root ideas.
