    1. [NYWASHIN] Thank yous about the name ROOT
    2. Sharon Henke
    3. Wow, you people are just awesome and so helpful To Christine.. thanks for looking and helping Israel's interment is established, but we are concerned now, about Lydia Conro Root and her parentage etc. Apologies that I got the Rte number mixed up in Fort Ann It should be Rte 149, not 176 To Deanna.. LOL uh huh ROOT is the name! Haven't heard from you in a while. Thank you for your input. Also Asahel is the Rev War soldier and should have a flag on his grave . To James: That might be a helpful aid to contact the California Friend about Root. We are still looking for information about Lydia Conro Root's parentage. Lydia was the wife of Israel Root. Israel, was the son of Asahel Root of Fort Ann. I would love to hear from your friend, esp if any information is about Lydia. To Charlie: It is possible that Charlie's middle initial is wrong. I will check with my ROOT cousin on that one. May I ask your source of Lucy being the mother to Asahel? I know that is correct, but just wondered how you know it. :-) Again, to all of you, thank you so much for your help. I think I am going to have to see about a church record for Lucy and her mother, Sally, if they weren't burned in the Fort Ann fire. I am not sure if they were members of the Presbyterian or Methodist church. 2. >To Charlie: It is possible that Charlie's middle initial is wrong. I will >check with my ROOT cousin on that one. May I ask your source of Lucy being >the mother to Asahel? I know that is correct, but just wondered how you >know it. :-) > Asahel's parents were Jacob Root, No. 450, and Lucy Burnham, d/o Rev. Wm. Burnham of New Britain, CT, widow of Capt. John Talcott of Glastenbury, CT. All this is in Root Genealogical Records by James Pierce Root, 1870 (not 1888 as I said earlier). I found that Lucy's mother was Hannah Wolcott (Memorial. Genealogy and Ecclesiastical History [of First Church New Britain, CT] ... by Alfred Andews, 1867, p23). The Root history has no Charles as a son, but it is claimed by some who have reported on this family on Ancestry.com that he was Charles Arthur Root, who was killed by falling off a railroad car in 1860, reported in newspaper accident as C. Arthur Root, brother of Augustus J. Root. You'd best read all of their comments. It seems to be true and the Root history says that Arthur was killed on a railroad. I haven't read the will of Israel Root, only what is reported in the DAR rec of Lilla Licht. I'm not related to this Root family, just keep track of all early Root families in NY. charlie
